Please note that the University inter-campus shuttle service will end on Friday 14 July 2017 (last day of service).
In August 2015, the inter-campus shuttle service has been introduced in a shared effort between research and administration (team of Francesco Viti from the FSTC/RUES, former cell for sustainability and SDS). Together with several other mobility services which the University offers for free to their staff members, the shuttles’ primary purpose was to support staff in their inter-campus connections in the framework of the relocation to Belval. Afterwards, this service has been opened also to students.
The shuttle earned success at its launch for a first test phase of 10 months in 2015/2016. It was reconducted and its use monitored. Statistics show that the utilisation analysed for the same periods in 2016 and 2017 showed a decrement of more than 60%. In the first year, the utilisation ratio was on average 90% with 1 500 users/week compared with 30% (less than 500 users) today.
Following the drop in users and regular dissatisfaction on service level offered, we decided to stop this offer.
If you have used to take the inter-campus shuttle to commute, we warmly invite you to check on mobiliteit.lu for available alternatives. Another opportunity is to visit the UL Karzoo car-pooling platform where you might find classmates in your region who might share their ride with you.
If you have any questions left, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
CONNECTING CAMPUSES WITH THE UL INTERCAMPUS SHUTTLE
The University of Luxembourg is offering an Intercampus Shuttle service linking its main sites in Luxembourg-City and Belval. Two busses are operating from Monday to Friday following the timetable hereunder. The bus stops mentioned are the official bus stops of the busses and can be easily found via mobiliteit.lu. You will recognise them thanks to the big uni.lu logos on their sides.
MANUAL & FAQ
Please find hereunder some useful questions/answers:
1. The maps view stays in Belval even if I select my route in Kirchberg. When I select my bus stop, it should be shown immediately.
The app was designed to show the bus, so when the information of the line has been entered by the bus driver, the app will zoom on the bus, not the stop.
2. Where can I see where the bus is at the time when I am looking at the map? The shuttle route should appear in real time in the map?
The bus will only show on the map if the driver chooses a route before he arrives to the first stop of the route. A route is determined by the direction and the time schedule. So every time when the driver leaves at one of the end stations, he should enter his next route.
3. When I click on My Bus Stop, it only shows Departure & Arrival “By Schedule”. Isn’t this linked to the real time information?
Real-Time ETA is calculated ONLY for the Final Destination and the Next Bus Stop
When My Stop = Next Bus Stop then you will have Real Time ETA for My Bus Stop; otherwise you will have According to Schedule
